Game Dev Tutorials
Description:
Michigan State University's Game Development program ranked 1st in the United States for Public University programs according to The Princeton Review's "Top 50 Undergraduate Schools for Game Design for 2020"
I am proud to have been a part of the Game Development program at MSU since 2018. I have been a Teaching Assistant and Co-Instructor for various classes in the program including: CAS 117 Games and Interactivity, MI 445 Game Design and Development 1, and MI 498 Game Design Workshop (Capstone class).
One of the biggest things I've done is lead the development of tutorial projects used in the classes at MSU. I managed a team of undergraduate student employees at the Games for Entertainment and Learning Lab at MSU to produce these tutorial projects.
Creating the tutorial projects involved not only making tutorial games that are fun to play on their own, but also a set of assets conducive to being used to teach students the fundamentals of game design and development through Unity while also being easy for students to build on top of. My work on the projects also included outlining learning goals for the tutorials and then using those to build video scripts and tutorial videos for students to follow along with.
The tutorial projects created include a 2D Shooter, 2D Platformer, 3D Shooter (FPS), and 3D Platformer as part of CAS 117 Games and Interactivity.
